The Vineyards of Tenute Filigheddu

Our Vineyards

Tenute Filigheddu owns 9 hectares of vineyards, distributed half in Caldòsa (Arzachena) and half in Pulcheddu (Palau).

Our properties lie within the DOCG of Vermentino di Gallura, and in fact Vermentino is our main grape. But we also grow some indigenous red varieties (Muristellu, Caricagiola and Cagnulari).

The training system is the Double Guyot. We adopt organic farming (officially certified since 2019) and only use products permitted by the organic regulations. We defend plants from diseases through treatments based on copper and sulfur only. Every other year, we proceed with a localized underground fertilization, using organic products based on nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and microelements. We practice a mechanical weed control, and sod seeding by means of self-sowing annual clovers.

It is here, in the countryside of Arzachena, that the adventure of Tenute Filigheddu was born, and here we grow more than half of the Vermentino. The Caldòsa vineyards have been planted since 2005 on the typical Gallura hills at about 70/80 meters above sea level.

The soil is sandy and silty, originated by the decay of granite rocks, and is characterized by the good balance between the mineral components. Frequent sea winds ensure a good diurnal range. The yields per hectare vary between 5 and 7 tons.

The Caldòsa vineyards are dominated by an ancient stazzo (a typical Gallura rural house) under renovation, which will soon become an accommodation and tasting space.

The most recent portion of our vineyards is located on the outskirts of Palau. It is 4.5 hectares, planted starting from 2014, extending at about 20/30 meters above sea level and with a northwest-southeast orientation. The terrain’s characteristics are similar to those of Caldòsa, but here the sea is even closer to the vineyards and the wind brings a welcome salinity.

In Pulcheddu we grow both Vermentino and indigenous red varieties, namely Muristellu, Caricagiola and Cagnulari. The yields per hectare of Vermentino are the same as in Caldòsa, while those of the red grape varieties vary between 3.5 and 5 tons.

This is where our winery is located. Soon, there will be a tasting area available and we are also developing a tour of the vineyard.
